Bruce graduated Summa Cum Laude in 3 years from Bryan College in Tennessee with a B.S. in Finance.  Prior to joining Hull & Company in 1982 as Operations Manager, Bruce worked in banking for 4 years.  His 27 year career with Hull & Company has spanned roles in Administration and Production including becoming a member of Hull & Company’s Executive Team.  Bruce‘s past positions within Hull led to his current role as Profit Center Leader for National Risk Solutions, a Division of Hull & Company specializing in online/internet accessible platforms. 

Bruce has been a member of the Florida Surplus Lines Association Board for 14 years, currently serving as President.  He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Florida Surplus Lines Service Office. Bruce resides in Oakland Park, Florida with his wife Donna

President-Elect

Roy graduated from the University of Florida in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and obtained the CPCU designation in 1987.  He joined Kahn-Carlin & Company, Inc. (www.kahn-carlin.com ) in July 1977 and is the President of the Agency, an Independent Agency that specializes in all lines of insurance.  He has served on various Agency Panels including CNA , FCCI and General Accident  and was President of the South Florida CPCU Chapter.

Roy has been a member of the Florida Surplus Lines Association since 2003.  He currently is the President-Elect.  Roy also serves on the Board of Governors of the Florida Surplus Lines Service Office.

Roy resides in Miami with his wife Lori and daughters, Erica and Andrea.  When not selling insurance, Roy enjoys tennis, running and skiing.

Treasurer

Skip's insurance career has spanned more than 30 years. He began as a national accounts underwriter for one of the leading commercial insurance carriers doing business today. This was followed by several years as a retail agent and working in the facultative reinsurance market handling both individual accounts and facultative automatic treaties.

Subsequently his career path led to excess and surplus lines where he has worked for the past 30 years. His duties and responsibilities have been in the day to day operations of two leading surplus line brokers/general agents as well as performing in a senior management capacity for each of these firms. Skip also owned and operated Wolf & Associates, a surplus lines brokerage and general agency in Jacksonville, Florida for several years.
Today, Skip is a Senior Vice President for Regional Excess Underwriters with countrywide duties and responsibilities, including the management of the Jacksonville, Florida office. REU is a wholly owned subsidiary of W.R. Berkley Corporation.

Lorna Palmer is President of John Handel & Associates, Inc. (JHA) an Excess & Surplus Lines brokerage firm located in St. Petersburg, Florida.  Lorna's career in the industry started in 1985 at Century Insurance Company in Concord, Ma in the Personal Lines Underwriting Support department.  Lorna went on to work on the retail side of the business from 1986-1998 where she moved through the ranks becoming the Agency Manager.  In 1998 Lorna relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida where she began as the CFO at John Handel & Associates and then became President in 2007.

Lorna has been a member of the Board of Directors for the Florida Surplus Lines Associations since 2005.  She also serves on the Board of Governors for the Florida Surplus Lines Service Office. Lorna resides in St. Petersburg, Florida with her husband Joe.

Michael Gabor is Vice President of

Gary is a graduate of Florida State University and began insurance career in 1971 as a commercial underwriter for a non-standard insurer in Florida.  Worked in San Francisco for 2 years with this carrier as a commercial lines manager.  Returned to Florida in 1979, joining a wholesale brokerage firm and have been in the excess and surplus Lines business ever since.  Married, with one daughter who also graduated from Florida State University.

Mike has been in the insurance business in the state of Florida for 25 years.  He got his start in underwriting with Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company.  From there, he joined his father at Franzese & Associates an Excess & Surplus Lines Wholesaler.  He became President of that operation in 1993.  In 1994 he joined Stewart Smith Southeast as a Vice President Property & Casualty broker in the Tampa office where he spent 11 years.  In 2005 he joined Burns and Wilcox as a Vice President to run the Tampa office.  In 2007 he was promoted to a corporate officer and given responsibility for growing operations in the State of Florida.

Mike attended the University of South Florida and graduated with his undergraduate degree in accounting in 1986.  He returned to USF and received his MBA degree in 2000.  Mike has many industry designations including Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter, Certified Insurance Counselor, Certified Risk Manager, Associate in Surplus Lines Insurance,  and an Associate in Underwriting.  In addition, he is a Certified Public Accountant.

Attorney - General Counsel

Douglas A. Mang is President and Shareholder of the Mang Law Firm, P.A. and specializes in insurance related matters.  He represents the Florida Surplus Lines Association as legislative and regulatory counsel and serves as counsel to many of its member agent, agencies, and companies. He has been active in the insurance arena for over 25 years. He has served as General Counsel for the State Treasurer and Insurance Commissioner of Florida. He has served on NAPSLO's legislative committee and is a Director of the Federation of Regulatory Counsel, a nationwide organization of attorneys who specialize in insurance regulatory matters.

Roger Gobler has been the Executive Director of FSLA since 1995.  He was President of FSLA  1989-91, having served on the board of director’s for 14 years.

Roger’s carrier began with the Royal-Globe Insurance Group in 1955.  He moved to Jacksonville Florida with the Great American Insurance Company in 1957 as a casualty special agent.  He was underwriting manager for a large Jacksonville agency from 1962-65.  He went to work for Shelly, Middlebrooks & O’Leary, Inc. in 1965.  He retired with Shelly, Middledbrooks & O’Leary, Inc after 28 years as Executive Vice President.

Roger graduated  from the University of North Florida with a BA degree in 1985. He is the Past President of the Jacksonville Beaches Exchange Club and Past President of the Florida District Exchanges Clubs. He lives with his wife Ann in Jacksonville Florida.
