It is again with a very heavy heart that we inform our industry of the passing of one of our biggest supporters Mr. Donald Carlin of Kahn-Carlin & Co., Inc. Miami, Florida. A long time advocate for surplus lines, Don was one of the founding members of the Florida Surplus Lines Association in 1960. He also participated in the drafting of Florida's original Surplus Lines laws which were put into effect in 1958. He was well known in Miami for his dedication and commitment to the community; being active in civic affairs and a large supporter of many organizations, especially those involving the arts.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 16, 2009 at the Coral Gables Congregational Church, 3010 DeSoto Blvd, Coral Gables, FL 33134. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the L.E.O Charitable Foundation c/o Andrew Vera 5722 Flamingo Road #310 Cooper City, Florida 33330 (Law Enforcement Officers Charitable Foundation).
